Telugu Desam Party's senior leader Yerran Naidu(55) died in a road accident in Ranasthalam mandal Srikakulam district early morning at 2 O Cloclk on Friday.
The car, in which he was travelling, hit an oil tanker near Ranasthalam in Srikakulam district.At the time of accident the car was travelling at a speed of about 80Km/hr.
Yerranaidu, a politburo member of TDP, was returning to Srikakulam from Visakhapatnam, after attending a marriage reception when the accident occurred.
A profusely bleeding Naidu was shifted to RIMS Hospital, where the doctors' efforts to resuscitate him failed. He was declared dead around 3.30 a.m.
Four others travelling with Naidu were also injured. Two of them were admitted to KIMS.
Yerran Naidu, a four-time MP who served as Union Minister for Rural Development from 1996 to 1998.
Yerranaidu has a son who is studying in America will return today evening to srikakulam and hea also had a daughter.
The last rites will be performed at his native village Nimmada in Srikakulam district on Friday.
